Logistics integration - a new stage of supply chain management

Continuous competition makes optimisation and production costs reduction one of prioritised goals for an enterprise manager. Furthermore, modern mining companies are complicated production structures performing besides production also supply, sale, social, environmental and other functions. The speaker considers an enterprise supply costs structure as a complex of purchase and supply chain cost systems separating them from direct production expenses. He shows that a skillful management of a logistic supply system is reached by balance of several inverse functions: transport, warehousing, working capital and risks. Thus, a company management faces the following choice: either to develop own supply management competences or focus on production and outsource the supply function to an external 4PL operator. The both approaches have right to exist which will be shown during the presentation.
