Highwall monitoring with laser scanning system Maptek Sentry
Maptek Sentry can be used to measure small movements in highwalls, truck dumps, stockpiles, reclamation areas, dams with the same Maptek I-site laser scanner the surveyors can use for daily pickups and geotechnical engineers can use for identifying structures for further analysis. The system is designed to: -increase safety of the mining operations -forecast technical risks -reduce cost of mining -measure slope stability -measure volumetric changes -increase the benefits from existing I-Site laser scanning surveying solution. The system is highly portable and easily mobilised, can be set up repeatedly over the same location while maintaining monitoring history. Multiple zones of interest can be tracked simultaneously and the user can define alert or alarm thresholds. Sentry is developed to detect trends so future behaviour can be predicted. Sentry has been proven to detect movement as small as 1mm/hr.
