Geomechanical numerical modelling – sophisticated solution for ensuring the stability of underground mine workings and constructions.
Geomechanical-numerical modelling methods are an established tool for planning of underground excavations worldwide. By describing the interaction between inhomogeneous rock mass and support elements it is possible to determine the suitability of different support systems. DMT is one of the leading companies in this field and has more than twenty-five years of experience in investigating and using geotechnical parameters to carry out numerical calculations. Today, nearly all kind of excavations (shafts, pit bottoms, bunkers, development drivages, gate roads, rooms and pillars etc.) are planned and evaluated by DMT with geomechanical-numerical tools in combination with empirical planning methods. The presentation will concentrate on holistic approach of obtaining necessary information, setting up the model and further calibrations in order to ensure high preciseness of the result. It will also cover several extensive examples of the projects in various commodities and for different mine structures.
