Alexei Mojarov

Alexei has gradu­ated from the Mo­scow State In­sti­tute of In­ter­na­tion­al Re­la­tions (MGIMO) in 1977 with dip­loma cum laude, spe­cial­iz­ing on eco­nomy of com­mod­it­ies. He has been work­ing from 1977 to 1983 in V/O "So­juz­promex­port", the USSR state mono­poly for for­eign trade in min­er­als and fer­rous metals, deal­ing with for­eign trade of iron, man­ganese and chrome ores. In 1983-1986 he was rep­res­ent­ing V/O "So­juz­promex­port" and V/O "Raznoim­port" in Italy. Upon his re­turn to Mo­scow he worked for the De­part­ment of In­ter­na­tion­al Eco­nom­ic Or­gan­iz­a­tions of the USSR Min­istry for For­eign Trade/For­eign Eco­nom­ic Re­la­tions. In 1990 he joined the United Na­tions Con­fer­ence on Trade and De­vel­op­ment (UNCTAD) to work in its Com­mod­it­ies Di­vi­sion (now Spe­cial Unit on Com­mod­it­ies), deal­ing with min­er­als and metals. Alexei is also Man­ager of the UNCTAD Trust Fund Project on Iron Ore. His moth­er tongue is Rus­si­an, he also speaks Eng­lish, French, Itali­an and Pol­ish.
