Igor Solodov

Director of development innovation and technology, ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. (JSC Atomredmetzoloto)
Main speciality - Geotechnical engineer. Graduated in 1973 from Moscow Geological Exploration Institute, speciality - mining engineer Geotechnical hydrogeologist . In 1986 defended thesis on geotechnology of mining uranium deposit Brtaskoye (Ukraine). In 2004 defended doctoral thesis on "Hydrogeochemical logging: Theory and Practice." From 1973 to 2015, directed VSEGINGEO expedition, then became the head of sector radiogeological problems at IGEM were he researched geology and geotechnology of uranium deposits in Russia, Uzbekistan and southern Kazakhstan, Australia, Tanzania and Namibia. Since 2005 he has been working at the ARMZ Rosatom in the Directorate of Science and Innovation.
Geotechnology - the main vector of the uranium mining industry development

Over the past 10 years (2005-2015) the share of uranium extraction by underground leaching (UL) in the world has increased from 10 to 51% in inverse proportion to the price of natural uranium. Following the same trend of uranium mining UL in Russia increased from 6 to 36 % for the same period. According to the forecast of uranium mining in Russia, this method reaches 55-60% by 2020. The main goal of the development strategy of uranium mining companies operating by ARMZ for the next 10 years are: to ensure a stable internal and external needs of uranium raw materials for State Atomic Energy Corporation «Rosatom»; reducing the cost of sales. Reduced average cost of producing uranium at all the mining enterprises of the holding is achieved by reducing the volume produced using the more costly, traditional underground mining method and increasing the share produced using the low-cost geotechnological methods (UL and HL)
