Development of information systems for mining companies - approaches, opportunities and possible issues.

Over the last 20-30 years the development of information systems in the mining industry has contributed greatly to both optimisation of existing mines and operation of previously unprofitable deposits due to application more efficient mining solutions. Integrated development of interconnected activities from geological modelling to the operations’ management can improve the reliability of Mineral Resource estimates and significantly improve the economic outputs of mining of deposits by reducing losses and dilution, optimisation of mining schedule, more complete mining of mineral resources and optimisation of personnel. The creation of a reliable geological database is a fundamental task. The successful experience of the development of information systems on uranium in-situ leaching mines in Russia by ARMZ Holding is provided in the presentation. Features of this method are that the operation is carried out remotely using the system of operational wells without a possibility of direct visual control of process and direct management of operation in the mineralised body. The successful Russian experience creates favourable conditions for the development of vertically integrated information systems for in-situ leaching mines in Kazakhstan and other mining companies.
